New Zealand - Day 1
So here we are sitting in the Air New Zealand International Lounge in Los Angeles airport. We have a 7 hour layover here before boarding the flight to Auckland; what fun! If it wasn't for the laptop and the free booze, I don't know what we would do.
The flights from Montreal to Toronto and Toronto to LA were uneventful. My first experience of business class has been good, excellent food and not bad seats. We're really looking forward to the First Class leg of the journey though!
First Class, what a trip! We were directed into the nose of the plane, were we found seats with literally over a metre of leg room.
The seats themselves were huge and comfortable, reclining to almost horizontal. Our personal waiter brought us champagne ("Only Mumms until we're in the air, then we can open the Dom Perignon"...) There were only 7 of us in that section, and our immediate neighbour was improvisational comedian Greg Proops, which was nice!
Shortly after being airborne we were served dinner:
Then it was time to push those seats right back and get some sleep. A few hours later I awoke to find the first class pixie had been and left a bottle of water and some chocolates. I watched S.W.A.T on video and jen watched Mona Lisa Smile. Then it was time for breakfast; fresh fruit, cereal, croissants, fruit smoothie, and belgian waffles with strawberries, cream and dark maple syrup. Shortly after that we landed at Auckland. We're not sure we can return to economy travel now...
