New Zealand - Day 12
We threw Kitty out of the room before bed last night as we don't have a litter tray handy and when Jen went to check an hour later she was curled up outside the door laying on a guilt trip for her. This morning Kitty was gone.
We went to Cafe Utopia for a delicious breakfast (I had Utopia Florentine; rocket, avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise atop two slices of ciabatta bread) then drove up the Mountain Road to 'Ithilien' where Andy Serkis jumped around in the stream pretending to be Smeagol catching a fish. We couldn't find the exact pond pictured in the locations book but it was still easy to picture the scene.
It was too misty to see much else up on the mountain so we headed south to Gravity Canyon, the highest bungy jump in NZ and also a good place to view the river Rangitiki, which was used as part of the river Anduin for the movies. I was tempted by the bungy but Jen dragged me away just in time. We popped in on a rafting place to see if we could get a quick hour of rafting in, but it was closed so we headed back to the hotel for some relaxation and trip planning. Oh and Jen bought a wool blanket.
